Hitting The Design Road Again...To Fabric Trade Show, Heimtextil!

 Hall 6.0, Heimtextil in Frankfurt
Why Am I Traveling to
 Heimtextil in Frankfurt, Germany
this January?
Nest by Tamara has allowed us to take many adventures these past nine years, and this January we are headed on the road once again for a two-week journey through Germany and France to take in design from all corners of the world in order to bring it back here for our viewers.  First stop, will be the highlight of the trip for me to German textile show, Heimtextil.  I am told it is THE textile show in the world.  Many say it is the industry's most important global event for interior textiles and the perfect place to glean trends that will influence the world in the coming years. They bring state of the art technologies combining them with inspirations from artisans around the world.  I was happy to hear the show is fully booked for January, promising a plethora of attendees and exhibitors, and bringing together companies, trade visitors, purchasers, interior designers, hoteliers and architects.
What I Will I See At Heimtextil...
1. DIGITAL TEXTILE MICRO FACTORY, HAll 6.0
My first stop at the show will most certainly be to visit the "Digital Textile Micro Factory" which promises to showcase textile production live in a newly expanded area and showcase the latest technology in their digital print technology center.  As many of us know, the digital advancement has changed our textiles permanently and tremendously throughout the world--the timing, the availability and the possibilities are extensive.  In conjunction with the German Institute for Textile and Fibre Research, the show will bring together renowned representatives from the industry to explain and demonstrate to us what the future holds for textile design.  They will even offer up free guided tours twice daily spoken in both German and English.
2. TREND FORECASTING at THEMED PARK, Hall 4.0/6.0
Another area to visit is the "Theme Park" trend section.  Under the management of Exalis, experts from the French trend agency Carlin International, trends will be offered up in various themed worlds during the show.  These trailblazing trends will help to inspire visitors.  This year's motto is "Explorations" taking visitors on an adventure, a discovery of the senses.  They promise innovative materials, textures and new patterns all from a fresh, new perspective.
3. Hall 4.2 stand C92 awarded projects and winners will be exhibiting here--the "Young Creations Award:  Upcycling" showcasing these designers' innovative textile projects made from recycled materials. An expert jury will decide the winner of the competition for young talent. Design students, as well as young masters will show how high-quality objects can be created for interiors out of waste materials.
4.  Hall 4.2, stand J60 "Mobility in focus at Heimtextil CAMPUS"  We often hear that "mobility" is a concept that is increasingly becoming a part of everyday life, and this exhibit will focus on issues relating to the idea of mobile living. Participating higher education institutions will present their designs at Heimtextil. In cooperation with bestofdesign.org, we will see up-and-coming talents showing the latest trends.
Of course, we will bring it all to you here on the blog, and in the hopes it may entice you to attend next year.
Please note, upon my return from Germany on February 6,  I will lead a Color Trend Talk at the opening of NY Now at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.  Many of the color trends I glean from Heimtextil will certainly make it in my discussion and presentation.
Stop back soon for details.
